Chem Trails

I mentioned "chem trails", also known as "con (condensation) trails" in one of my comments.
Here is an article discussing them.  Living within 40 miles from the largest Naval Air Station in the world, we used to see them a lot, but not as much as I did 20 years ago.

Credit:  this picture is from the Wilipedia article above.
There were mornings in the late 1980's I could hardly count the number of con-trails in the sky near my house!

This is the missing pic from the last post

Asia Times Online :: Another operation looms in Waziristan
The only reason I re-posted this was becasue of the picture that went with it.  It is very phallic, so I'm guessing the 2 guys that posed with this weapon are trying to make up for perceived shortcomings.  If the picture doesn show up, then my efforts have been in vain

Word of the Day -Fusty

fusty \FUHS-tee\ , adjective:
1. Having a stale smell; moldy; musty.
2. Old-fashioned or out-of-date, as architecture, furnishings, or the like.
3. Stubbornly conservative or old-fashioned; fogyish

Fusty comes from the Old French word fust, meaning a “wine cask.” As wine casks are stuffy and smelly, the adjective is a logical association.

The Sorrows of Gin

Thanks to Sailing Anarchy http://www.sailinganarchy.com I ran across a website, the Sorrow of Gin, that has an amazingly electic collection of pictures of women, cars and booze. Perhaps a little racy, but not really compared to the Fox network on TV, use your own discretion.

The sites introduction: "As our culture continues its decline, we celebrate the decadence of women, cocktails and classic American style."

Home Milk delivery!?

Too bad I'm lactose intolerant, I just might sign up. By the way, that picture on the left is a metropolitian. I learned to drive a stick shift in one of those and over the years I've owned 4 or 5. But, none had a bottle of milk on them!

Agenda 21- What it isn't

Agenda 21-What it is

I have to admit I did not know what Agenda 21 was until I read that the Tea Bagger movement was up in arms about it (see next posting), so I thought I'd see for myself what it is. Here is is.

Check Back Often

On Dec 23 I said that I was going to start posting everyday. Well, I missed the next 2 days, Christmas Eve and Christmas day. But since I posted 6 times on Dec 23 I figure I'm OK since my daily average so far is 2. So, anyway, here I go. Check back often as I hope to have new stuff everyday and keep up my dail average!

politics & guns

Before I leave the topic of physical health and politicans here is our former Governor showing off HIS guns. I can't remember any conservatives making fun of his body

Women with guns

Talking about "chicks with guns"- check this out. Can't remember where I found this pic, but her biceps & triceps seem to be real and not photo-shopped.

Congressman apologizes for criticizing Michelle Obama’s ‘large posterior’

"The Wisconsin lawmaker—who, it must noted, is a bit rotund--sent a personal note to Obama apologizing for his remarks, his spokeswoman Amanda Infield tells Yahoo News. She declined to go into detail about what the note said.

In a statement to reporters, the lawmaker reiterated his apology. "I regret my inappropriate comment, and I have sent a personal note to the First Lady apologizing," he said.

It's not the first time Republicans have mentioned Obama's looks in criticizing her campaign to end childhood obesity. Earlier this year, Rush Limbaugh trashed the initiative, suggesting Obama doesn't physically appear to practice what she preaches."

Apparently Rush has never seen her 'guns'

Reason for the Season? the post I put on FB

From the link-

"Let’s get something straight, we love Jesus. Love His style. Love His message. Love how He loves! When we hear things like ‘Jesus is the Reason for the Season’, our educated self screams at the stupidity! Let us clarify our position. Jesus is a great guy and everything but by no means does he monopolize December. For Christians, December means Christmas and the celebration of the birth of Christ. For Jews, December is the time of the Festival of Lights, or Hanukkah, where they celebrate the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem for 8 days. Muslims sometimes celebrate the Islamic New Year in December depending on the day it falls. Buddhists have Boddhi Day which celebrates the day that the Buddha attained enlightenment. African Americans celebrate Kwanzaa which celebrates universal African American heritage and culture. Pagans have long celebrated Yule and the Winter Solstice around the 21st of the month. So, by saying only Merry Christmas, we are completely ignoring, disenfranchising and disrespecting the faith and priorities of others. Now, that does not sound like Jesus Christ, does it?"

Reason for the Season?

My facebook page has had a small discussion about "the reason for the season". I know I have said this before, but starting today I am going to post something here everyday.
Here is the first, a link to an article about how 10% of protestant churchs are closed this coming Sunday becasue it is Christmas

Click on the link and it will take you to written material, only then will the video start, if you want to see it and clck on it.
Here is an important part what what he is saying

"Today just 400 Americans have more wealth than half of all Americans combined."

"Let me say that again. 400 obscenely rich people, most of whom benefited in some way from the multi-trillion dollar taxpayer "bailout" of 2008, now have more loot, stock and property than the assets of 155 million Americans combined. If you can't bring yourself to call that a financial coup d'état, then you are simply not being honest about what you know in your heart to be true."

Barcelona World Race

I find this facinating, these 12 60 foot sailboats are in the middle of racing around the world. My favorite teams are Estrella Damm (becasue it is named after a spanish beer), Neutrogena (because it has the only American in the race) and GAES Centros Auditivos (because it is crewed by two women, the only women in the race)

Ayn Rand

OK, I feel like I'm late in joing the "Ayn Rand/Fountainhead/Atlas Shrugged party" but I have finally started reading her books. Not sure I agree with her philosphy of "objectivism" but her ultra conservative theories are certaintly broadening my horizons.

Conservatives left out parts of the Consitution

When conservatives took over Congress last month they made a big deal reading the Constitution out loud on the floor, as if only conservatives believed in the that document. Ooops, they left some parts out.

If reagan was still alive the Tea Baggers would work agaisnt him as being too liberal

Read this article about the things the conservatives forget about Reagan

Conservatives respect for US Constitution fades

Conservatives in general and the Tea Baggers in particluar claim allegince and reverence for the US Constitution. OK, so why did they attempt to make 42 (Forty Two !) amendents?! during the last term of comgress?

George Bush Can't Travel Overseas for Fear of Arrest and Prosecution

"As the news broke on Saturday that former President George W. Bush had abruptly canceled his scheduled appearance this week in Geneva to avoid the risk of arrest on a torture complaint, my first thought was — how humiliating, not only for Bush but, by extension, for all Americans. "

conservatives NOW complain about lack of mental health services

Conservatives forget they have been the ones to always oppose social funding. It is hyprocritical to now complain about the lack of services. I am old enough to remember that California once had the best system of mental health hospitals and clinics in the country but Govenor Ronald reagan shut that all down

Open letter to Conservatives from a conservative

I couldn't have written this better. What makes it have value is that it is written by a conservative.
Please, the more conservative you are, the more you need to read this article in its entirety.
The most important thing to get out of the article is that republicans cannot fight Obama agsint their OWN ideas.

9/11 Families Ask: What Happened to the Third Building That Collapsed in the WTC Attacks?

9/11 Building 7

I had no idea until today that 3 buildings, not just the two trade towers "pancaked" into nothing on September 11, 2001. The third building, building #7 stood until 5:00 PM that day, then pancaked into nothingness. It was not hit by an airplane or debris and was not heavily damaged. Look at the videos of the collapse. If you are like me, it will give you chills and remind you of the many planned demoltions you have seen in Las Vegas and other cities.

FaceBook Campaign Agasint Child Violence

I have been involved in Child protective Services for over 26 years in 5 California Counties and have seen the absoulte worse people have to offer agasint their children or other kids. Posting cartoons this weekend won't change any of the dynamics that go into child abuse such as; poverty, drug & alcohol abuse, mental health isssues, gabh involvement, republican's phobia of fubnding social services, (or anything that doesn't go into a rich person's pocketZ" and douible speaking politicans.

I have witnessed and lived the fact that society SAYS they care about kids, but it's actions show, without any doubt that it doesn't care the slighest iota.

This rant is not agasint the cartoon posters, obviously your heart is in the right place. This rant is agasint the people whio CLAIM thay support family values, but really don't. If they did I would not be handling the same child abuse issues day in and day out as I did in 1982.

But, I'm loving the cartoons.

Facebooks Campaign Agaisnt Child Violence

This weekend, Face Book is asking its members to post their favorite cartoon as a child as their profile picture in order to highlight a campaign agasint child violence.
I tried to post a rant on FB but due to word limits it became a big hassle so I decided to post it here. Actually rants do belong someplace other than face book, so here it is. And really it is not that long:

God Is Still Speaking

I have been a member of the Congregational church for 38 years, longer than I was a member of the Foursquare Church . I have learned a lot from both. The Foursquare Church was founded by a woman, Aimee Semple McPherfsen, so I grew up with strong women in and around the pulpit, and i was about 35 years old before I found out women weren't allowed in leadership roles in most churches, Congregational (United Church of Christ) being the biggest exception.

Why We Need a Draft:

I'm tired of our kids being ground up and thrown away in 2 wars. Corporations are getting rich off this stuff. During Viet Nam 1 tour was normal, 2 or more unusual. Now, our kids are being sent back 4, 5 or 6 times! This needs to end. Until the pain is felt equally between the the poor, the rich and the politicans, we will have preperputal war.

This article was not writtenj by sone anti-war fanatic- it was written by someone who lived it.

Warning- this article has anti-war comments

This Morning

This morning a group of us went out to where we dug that really deep pit at the end of winter. After a few hours we were finally able ti trick/chase a mammoth into falling into it. Only one person was hurt this time, no one got killed, thanl spirit of the cave bear. After a game of short straw the winner dropped into the pit and finished the mammoth off. The rest of us then cut it up into pieces and carried it back to the village where the women had been collecting herb, berries, etc to cook with the mammoth. The fire is started si we should be ready to eat by dark.

Ooops, sorry that was me 10,000 years ago. This morning, Gloria & I went to Costco and filled the back of the car.

More Smoking Gun

When you get tired of FarmVille check out smoking guns list of famous mug shots. The list is mind boggling, and no, I'm not there.
The mugs here are George Clinton, Funk musician extrordinaire, Rush Limbaugh & a very young Frank Sinatra

Guilty Pleasure

If you have never been to the smoking gun web page, you need to go. They collect mug shots from across the country and post the 15 most memorable every week. I feel a little guilty being entertained by the pain of other people getting arrested, but hey, "there by the Grace of God". Click on the title of this blog and go to one set of weekly winners.

Party of No: How Republicans and the Right Have Tried to Thwart All Social Progress

You name it, the republicans and the right have opposed it, health care, civil rights, womems rights, school desegration, labor rights, protecting the environment, medical marijuana. All they seem to be in favor of is destroying the government, then complain when it doesn't move fast enough to line their pockets.

Good Bye K-PIG Hello Pandora

K-PIG went back to a subscription format that was so complicated I couldn't even log in. I have found something better and the vasic version is free. You may already know about it. It called Pandora and it sets up radio stations with only music that you like. The way it works is you pick a band you like, say Los Lobos, then it plays only music ny Los Lobos or something somewhat similiar. Pandora is called the music geneome project which sounds a little scary like there is DNA being extracted or something. But, try it some day, go to pandora.com, its free unless you can't stand a 30 second commerical every 15 songs or so.

Bush's third term? You're living it

Obama is a great speechifier, and I had been convinced that he was not a typical politican, but here it is, almost October and nothing has seemed to change. This article confirmed what I was already fearing, we will never have the same health care as all the other first world countries and consumers will always be victims of the corporations

K-Pig Radio

I probably posted this before, but I can't praise this internet radio station enough. Love it , love it, love it

Amazing Web Page

I bought a IPod nano in July and was looking for some free downloads but didn't want the downloading police knocking on my door at 3:25 A.M and dragging me into my driveway in my underwear with my hand handcuffed behind my back. (I'm not kidding, that stuff happens all the time, we are after all a capitalist society where "he who has the gold, rules". ). I somehow stumbled across this web page who calls themselves the "public library of the Internet". All the downloads they have are either in the public domain or they have permission from the copyright holder, gotta love it , no guilt downloads! It took less than a week before I filled up 8 gig of live shows, some of which I actually attended. Check this site out! It has old radio shows, live shows of the grateful dead, from all types of music festivals. etc. Go there and explore your will be amazed what you find

Insurance Industry's Greed- Public Option needed

Still here, not much to say, a bit numb from everything going on in life. I'm thinking of moving to Europe or Canada where I can get some health care when I finally retire. Obviously too many idiots in this country to let us get out of the grip of blood sucking insurance companies.

World's Hottest Pepper?!

India has the hottest peppers!?
Does mexico & Louisnana know about this?!

"Indian defense spices things up
By Sudha Ramachandran

BANGALORE - Red-hot chili peppers could soon come to India's defense. The country's defense scientists are working on using the world's hottest chilies in hand grenades for use in counter-insurgency operations and riot control.

An important ingredient in Indian cooking, hitherto chilies have been confined to kitchens. They seem poised now to storm another bastion. If ongoing field trials are successful, chilies will soon make a grand entry into India's defense armory.

The plan is "to harness the pungency value of chilies to make hand grenades that can be used in riot control and counter-insurgency situations",

US Army 7th Transportation Group; The Army Learns on Its Stomach

Both my cars have a licence plate frame that says "US Army Veteran-7th Trans; the Army's Navy".
This article is about the Army's 7th Transportation Group at Ft. Eustis Virginia where I served twice during my time in the US Army. The patch I wore has been replaced by something else so for the graphic I used the Army's Transportation Corps' flag. I also posted a picture of one of the Army's large tugs (LT) that I worked on a lot.

Singapore Borrows from George Bush II play book

A new law in Singapore reminds me of Bush's Patriot Act. Just shows, those in power make laws to stay in power.

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Southeast_Asia/KF13Ae02.html

"New legislation passed by parliament in the name of combating terrorism has raised concerns that discretionary powers could be used by authorities to further silence political opposition and suppress public dissent when the island nation is facing its worst economic crisis since achieving independence.

The Public Order Act (POA), which was rapidly drafted and passed without much fanfare in April, represents the latest legislation to boost the discretionary powers of the People's Action Party-led government, which has ruled the city state uninterrupted since 1959, in the name of upholding national security.

The new law will primarily extend the draconian Public Entertainment and Meeting Act, which bars gatherings of more than five people without a government-granted permit. "
